Beavers

Welcome to Beavers

We are taught by Miss Twells. Our teaching assistants are Mrs Foster and Mrs Gaunt. Mrs Foster will teach Beavers on a Friday afternoon, whilst Miss Twells has release time. Every 3rd Friday Miss Twells will have a morning as release time in which Mrs Gaunt and Mrs Foster will cover the class, following plans from Miss Twells.

If you have any concerns or questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the class email address, which will be replied to as soon as it can be.

P.E.

As you all know, we now have employed a dedicated sports coach, Mrs Flatt, formerly known as( Miss Clason), who will now be delivering our P.E. lessons. Beavers will still have P.E on a Wednesday for 1 hour, but our new P.E day will be back to a Friday for 1 hour in the afternoon. Beavers need to come in their PE kit to school both days and be wearing either black or white trainers or pumps. Please make sure to take earrings out or cover over them before they come to school and that hair is tied up.

Homework

Year 1 and 2 will get one piece of homework a week, alternating between Maths and English. Homework is handed out on a Friday and is due back in on a Wednesday. Homework is also available on the website under the homework section.Reception will eventually have phonic sound cards and their reading books to be engaging with.

Reading at hom

Reading books are changed on a Tuesday and a Thursday. Children get 2 books. 1 book is to help  build their phonics knowledge and support what we are learning in class. We follow the ‘All Aboard’,DfE Validated Phonics programme. The other book is to help with reading fluency and expose children to lots of stories to help foster the love for reading, but also to help build-up their confidence with all the different sounds they have learnt so far. Children are more than welcome to take books home from our library to fulfill their passion for reading.

Spellings

Year 1 and 2- Spelling lists for each week are in their homework folders and available on the website under the heading spellings. Spelling tests are on a Friday morning.

Reception- Will have key rings with the sounds we have learnt so far, but no spelling test. Key rings wont be sent home until we have learnt a  few sounds.
