Week 6/ Week 7

There will be no homework or spellings set for Reception/ Year 1/2 this week or over the summer holidays. 

Have yourself a well earned break! I can't wait to hear about all your lovely summer stories in September.

For your last piece of literacy work, I would like you to make a prediction of what activities you are going to do over the summer holidays.

This week children have been doing some brilliant caption writing and making predictions about our new book ‘The way back home’.

Can children have a go at writing a caption about ‘What they can see in the garden’ worksheet.

Year 1 –

Complete the maths task stuck in your books, we have started our new topic on weight and volume this week.

We have started our new book ‘The way back home’ this week and we have been working on using different sentence types in English in preparation of writing our own space story.

Can children write at least 3 sentences using their opinion of what they like and dislike about the book?

Spellings- Adding the prefix–un without any change to the spelling of the root word.

unhappy, undo, unwrap, unlock, unzip, untidy, unwell, unload, unfair, unkind

Year 2-

Complete the maths task stuck in your books, we have been focusing on mass, capacity and temperature this week.

We have started our new book ‘The way back home’ this week and we have been working on using different sentence types in English in preparation of writing our own space story.

Can children write a paragraph using their own opinion of what they like and dislike about the book?

Spellings- Focus on months of the year

Year 1 –

Complete the maths task stuck in your books, we have been focusing on writing and comparing time in maths this week.

We have been working on using similes this week in our descriptive writing. Can you write 3 exciting similes on something you like.  Remember a simile is where you compare on thing with another.

For example-

My cat is as soft as a cuddly bear.

Spellings- Focus on compound words and 2 common exception words

Football, playground, farmyard, bedroom, blackberry, lighthouse, sometimes, bathroom, come, ask

 

Year 2-

Complete the maths task stuck in your books, we have been focusing on time this week, with specific focus on writing and drawing time to 5-minute intervals.

We have been working on using similes this week in our descriptive writing. Can you write 3 exciting similes on something you like.  Remember a simile is where you compare on thing with another.

For example-

My cat is as soft as a cuddly bear.

Spellings- Focus on homophones and near homophones

There, their, they’re, here, hear, see, sea, to, too, two

This week in maths we have been starting to look at taking away stories, have a go at the current bun’s maths task.

WEEK 2- Homework due 24th June 2022

Reception- 

Read your reading book.

Draw a picture and then write a caption about what you have been doing in the sun this weekend.

Year 1- 

Complete the maths task stuck in your books, we have been focusing on dates, months and looking at time to the O’clock and half past.

Our class text at the minute is ‘Here comes the Aliens’ can you use a range of exciting adjectives that you could use to describe the alien from the book.

Remember adjectives are describing words.

‘The green alien had a pointy helmet.’

Spellings- adding s and es to words and 2 common exception words

Cats, dogs, spends, rocks, school*s, friend*s, thanks, catches, once, one

Year 2-

Complete the maths task stuck in your books, we have been focusing on time this week, with specific focus on half past, quarter past and quarter too.

Our class text at the minute is ‘Here comes the Aliens’ can you use a range of exciting adjectives that you could use to describe the alien from the book.

Can you challenge yourself to use an expanded noun phrase?

‘The grumpy, green alien was holding a machine.’

Spellings- Our focus this week is the suffixes –less and –ly and 2 common exception words-

Penniless, happily, lovely, joyless, slowly, quickly, careless, fearless, beautiful, busy

Summer term 2-

 

WEEK 1-  Homework- due 17th June 2022

Year 1- 

Complete the maths task in your books, we have been focusing on position and direction this week.

I would like you to write a couple of sentences about what you think is in space. Make sure that you include lots of exciting vocabulary and a range of punctuation.

Your spellings are a mixture of high frequency words; your test will be on Friday morning.

Year 2- 

Complete the maths task stuck in your books, we have been focusing on position and direction this week.

I would like you to write a paragraph all about what you think is in space. Be sure to include lots of exciting vocabulary and a mixture of punctuation.

Challenge yourself to include an exclamation mark.

Your spellings are a mixture of high frequency words; your test will be on Friday morning.
