Welcome

ROSLISTON CE PRIMARY SCHOOL

‘Nurturing roots as we reach for the sky.’

Welcome Message

Our Headteacher and team would like to extend a warm welcome to Rosliston CE Primary School; proud to be a nurturing, enthusiastic, aspirational primary school.

Located in the pretty village of Rosliston, South Derbyshire, Rosliston CE Primary School is a small school in the heart of the National Forest, a stone’s throw from our friends at Rosliston Forestry Centre. We are a small, family-orientated Church of England school, with close links to the nearby Church of St. Mary’s and our local Vicar, Reverend Bruce.

We are immensely proud of our long and rich history in serving the local community since the school was built in 1882, with modern additions to our Victorian school building in 2001. We welcome children from Rosliston and surrounding villages, as well as from further afield, giving our school population a diverse and exciting character.

We have tailored our curriculum themes to celebrate our local area but also explore further afield. We delve into history and travel the globe in geography! We show our children that the world is an exciting and diverse place and we prepare them for life after primary school, all whilst having lots of fun!

Our bright, well-resourced environment is inviting and our outdoor area has a spacious playground, grassy area and trim trail! We have our own school field in the village and regular access to the Village Hall for sport and performances.

Our school recognises and promotes the core Christian values of Respect, Friendship, Creativity, Honesty, Thankfulness and Hope. These values provide our school with a shared ethos, which we promote through our weekly ‘Reach for the Sky’ Assembly and collective worships, during which we celebrate all of our pupils’ successes both in and out of school. We are proud to be a 'Picture News' advocate school, teaching our children about global issues and current affairs, linking to British Values in an age-appropriate way.

We are incredibly proud to have a strong, experienced team of staff who bring a wealth of knowledge and skills to our school. The staff, proudly led by Headteacher Mrs J Daniels (NPQH) and supported by our committed governors, work hard to deliver our broad curriculum and wider, extra-curricular opportunities, such as Breakfast Club, after-school clubs, sporting events and competitions and our school choir. We believe that our encouraging, nurturing approach, coupled with aspirational opportunities, prepares our pupils for life beyond Rosliston Primary School, allowing them to truly reach for the sky!

We hope that you enjoy looking at our website and learning all about our special school. The people who make-up our school community are proud to be a part of our team and we’re always keen to welcome more pupils and families!
