Our topic this term is...

 

The United Kingdom

 

 

As part of our learning we will be developing our skills in the following areas:

 

Geography

We use world maps, atlases and globes.

We use simple compass directions.

We use basic geographical vocabulary to refer to key physical features.

We use geographical language to refer to physical features and human features of a landscape.

 

Art and Design Technology

We use a range of materials creatively to design and make national flowers.

We create flags and understand the significance of the colours and features used.

We develop a wide range of art and design techniques in using colour,

pattern, texture, line, shape, form and space.

 

Literacy

We use our topic learning to develop writing skills for a variety of purposes including diary writing,

using non-fiction resources, writing captions and labels and creating reports.

 

Music

We enjoy learning about traditional music and instruments from the four areas of

the United Kingdom, as well as their National Anthems.

 

ICT

We use technology to carry out our research and to create our own

information collection about the United Kingdom.
