Reception 2026
Is your child joining the Rosliston family?
If your child's place has been confirmed for September 2026 - WELCOME! We're thrilled to be welcoming you to our school.
In order to support the transition to primary school, Mrs Daniels (Headteacher & SENDco) and Mrs Yates (EYFS Lead/Teacher and Assistant SENDco) will be liaising with nurseries and pre-school settings, as well as communicating with families. We've also planned a number of exciting opportunities to share information, meet staff and classmates and familiarise yourselves with our school and community!
| Saturday 13th June, 11am-1pm | PTA Summer Fair! Come along and join in the fun, get to know our school and the wonderful atmosphere we have here. Support our PTA and mingle with the school community. All welcome! |
| Thursday 18th June, 5.30-6.30pm | Welcome Evening*: Parents/Carers/Children welcome. Come along and receive vital information such as your 'Welcome' Pack and administration forms, as well as chatting to school staff and learning about life in our Reception class. |
| Friday 26th June, 2-3pm | 'Stay and Play'*: Parents/Carers/Grandparents invited to come and spend an hour in school with our new starters to support in familiarising them with the school, their teacher and wider school staff and their peers. |
| Wednesday 1st July, 9-11am | Whole-School Transition Morning*: New Starters are invited to come and spend this special morning with us, as all of our children 'move along' into their new classes to 'meet' their teacher and teaching assistant, learn about the expectations and routines of their new class or year group and discover what they'll be learning about! This is a great opportunity for children to stay with us independently and parents/carers are asked to drop children off at the front door for 9am and collect them again at 11am. |
*Please email Miss Radford (School Business Officer) on: office@rosliston.derbyshire.sch.uk to confirm your attendance at these events. If you (or your child) are unable to join us for any date, please do let us know and we'll do our best to offer alternatives/be flexible.

You are welcome to call us to arrange a visit at an alternative time too. We will happily show prospective parents/carers around our school during the school day, as it's really important you get a 'feel' for the school in action!

If your child was born between 1 September 2020 and 31 August 2021 they will eligible to start school in September 2026. You should apply for their infant / primary school place by 15 January 2026. You will be able to make your application from 9am on 11 November 2025.
You can apply online (www.derbyshire.gov.uk/admissions).
You still need to apply for a place for your child, even if you already have a child/children at our school.
As a voluntary controlled school, Derbyshire County Council manages our admissions process and appeals.
