** Attendance this year has been a mixture of remotely and face-to-face meetings.

We currently have a vacancy for the clerk to the governors.  In this interim period the meetings are being recorded and then typed up by the chair after the meeting

Rev. Derek Arnold

Hello, my name is Derek Arnold and I have recently joined the Governing body and would like to give you an idea about who I am. After attending Art College, I began my working life as a Technical Illustrator. We then moved to Germany for 10 years where I worked in the latter part of my time as a Marketing Director. I then returned to Banbury, where I started my own company and remained there until I got the calling to be a priest in the Church of England.

I have 4 children, the youngest is 9 and my wife Amanda and I were Foster Carers for 10 years. Since joining the church, I have served on 6 School Governing Bodies and it has always been a pleasure and privilege to serve. If any of my past experiences prove useful to the school, I am happy to help. I believe that working in schools is a really important part of the church’s mission in the community. In my spare time I like to get a bit of exercise, spend time relaxing and enjoy a good cup of coffee.

Brian Matkin

I am the Local Authority Governor having been nominated by Derbyshire County Council. I have been a governor for a number of years and have acted as Chair during that time.  I am actively involved in the village, serving as a Parish Councillor and member of the Village Hall Management Committee.

I was a Shift Manager at Drakelow Power Station until its closure some years ago, but am now a self-employed Training Consultant working mainly in the electricity sector.

Kate Nickson

My name is Kate Nickson and I am a Co-opted Governor, and Vice chair. I have a daughter at the school who is currently in Year 4. I worked in education for many years - primarily as a School Business Manager for a Staffordshire school, as well as a leader of a private SEN school.

I have taught children from Reception to A-level and feel passionate about helping all children reach their individual potential.

I am currently a manager at a fire protection company and I am also a qualified Forest Schools Practitioner.

I am very much looking forward to being part of Team Rosliston!

Caroline Preston

My name is Caroline Preston and I am a co-opted Governor and Chair of governors at Rosliston.  I have a daughter in year 3 at Rosliston CE School and a son who is 4 years old.

I have been a Primary School Teacher for the past 20 years and have taught all age groups from Reception up to Year 5 and am now part of the School Leadership Team at my School.

Throughout my career I have taught English across both Key Stages and work with SEND children on a daily basis.  I have also been a school PTA member for many years helping to raise much needed funds for school.

Alex Shaw

My name is Alex Shaw and I am the foundation governor of the School Governor team.  I have 2 children at Rosliston, one in year 2 and my eldest in y4 Year 4.  I have lived in the area for almost 10 years and am very appreciative of the richness that the school brings to the community.

I am a qualified engineer with experience working in both design and operational roles at a large, Derby based company.  I have a passion for celebrating successes, whilst not losing sight of areas for improvement and helping develop realistic plans to achieve defined goals.

Along with my wife and two children we have a passion for helping children in care and are foster carers for young children who need a helping hand in their early years.

Louise Muttitt

My name is Louise Muttitt and I have two children in Rosliston School.  I have run my own business for the past 18 years, as a sole trader, which means I can bring a vast array of skills to the Parent Governor role.  From accounts, to time management, marketing and developing new ideas, networking with related business, communicating with clients and suppliers - everything it takes to keep a business growing.  I am also an author of two published books in Jewellery Making and my studio is located at Sharpe's Pottery Museum.  I have interests in keeping active, getting outside, dance, music, gardening and cooking.

Sophie Power

My name is Sophie Power and I am a Parent Governor. I have a daughter at the school who is in Year 2. I have worked in education for many years teaching from EYFS to Y11. I am currently an Assistant Principal, Director of SEND and DDSL at a Secondary school in Staffordshire. My passion is working with children of all ages and abilities and I am really looking forward to joining the Rosliston team!
