Monday 19th May
We were very excited today to be able to handle some real Roman artefacts including a Roman coin, broach parts and tiles and bricks from Roman buildings. What a wonderful way to bring our ‘All Roads Lead to Rome’ topic to life!


Tuesday 13th May
This afternoon, we tested different pairs of sunglasses to see which would be the best pair to protect our eyes from the sun. We used data loggers to measure the strength of torch light that passed through the sunglasses.


Monday 31st March
This afternoon we have been busy practising mixing colours and adding detail to our own fruit paintings after looking at the work of Caravaggio.

We’re taking part in Safer Internet Day and enjoying the BBC live lesson!
Monday 10th February
This afternoon we have been learning about earthquakes as part of our Earth SOS topic. We learnt how people living near earthquake hotspots keep safe if they experience an earthquake.
Thursday 3rd October 2024
We had an extremely exciting morning today, taking part in the Guinness World Record attempt as part of the largest ever poetry lesson on National Poetry Day. We then wrote our own poems. Check out this poem by one of the Year 3 pupils.

Today’s Science investigation involved testing different materials to see which would create the most friction.

In Maths today, we used place value counters to practise partitioning numbers in different ways using flexible partitioning.



Friday 6th September 2024
What a fabulous start to the new year! We’ve been making predictions about our new class book ‘The Ancient Egypt Sleepover’ in English, making a great start in our maths work, cracking codes using hieroglyphs and practising our artistic skills sketching scarab beetles.

As part of our Mediterranean topic, we enjoyed preparing and trying some traditional Mediterranean foods. We made a beautiful Greek salad and even tried the olives!

Last week we studied examples of cave art. Today, we created our own cave art using pastels, charcoal and paint!

This afternoon we have been researching Stonehenge and finishing our Stonehenge art.

We’ve had so much fun this afternoon learning about different types of rock. We made sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous rocks out of chocolate!

Some fabulous collaborative working this morning in Badgers. We have been sharing our narratives and helping each other by suggesting improvements.



Tuesday 12th September 2023
This afternoon we kicked off our new Science topic of Rocks by comparing different rocks. We sketched the rocks carefully, looking at their colour, composition and texture and then described them. We are VERY excited about learning more about different types of rocks when we make chocolate rocks next week!
